Dallas-based startup empowers businesses to optimize international trade.
So I am old enough to have gone through both 911 and 2008 (Kmart and FedEx respectively).

Many of the feelings I had then are the same as now. Uncertainty, Concern for Others, Helplessness, Fear.

While each were very different, they both had a familiar pattern of uncertainty and eventually resolve - I was on a plane when 911 happened, and none of us understood what it meant, so the first few hours and days were very cloudy and emotional.

Quickly the clouds of uncertainty turned into concern for others. My Iranian friend Ben who was afraid of a backlash, my team, my kids who wouldn't have some of the freedoms I took for granted, and many others.

Next came fear & helplessness, as it was not at all clear then exactly how and when the country would recover.

The good news is what came next was courage & resolve. I saw our leaders taking charge, people volunteering to fight back, people resolving to not let it change our way of life.

In both cases the solutions were Americans coming together and leaders leading. Partisan bickering and petty grievances largely disappeared for a time as people focused on the important things.

This too shall pass, and once again we will emerge even stronger as a nation because of it. God bless.
